3 Ways to Improve Your SEO

Looking to improve your SEO? Trying to rank higher in Google and attract more web visitors? Search engine optimization can be challenging, but Google has been explicit about how you can rank higher on search engine results pages (SERPs). For this reason, there are some principles you can follow that will increase your chances of successful SEO.

In this article, we’re going to outline 3 ways to improve your SEO. After reading, you’ll know exactly what to do in order to rank higher and attract visitors to your website. The strategies we’re going to outline are pretty simple, and once you begin implementing them, you’ll be a pro SEO specialist in no time. Let’s take a look!

How to improve your SEO

Create great content

People often say “content is king.” This is totally true, because great content contributes to your website’s SEO. You need unique, informative blog articles that target specific keywords, because when web users search for those keywords in Google, they’ll show up on the search engine results page.

Use websites like Semrush and Ubersuggest to research and find keywords with low competition, because there’s a lot of content out there. If you choose keywords with high competition, your chances of being seen by web users will be next to nil.

Most people find what they’re looking for on the first page of Google. They hardly ever go beyond that, so it’s unlikely your content will ever be seen if you aren’t ranking high enough. For this reason, it’s of grave importance you choose unique keywords with little competition, as this will improve your chances of ranking on the first page of Google and being clicked on by web surfers.

Build backlinks

Another way to improve your SEO is by building backlinks. What are backlinks? They’re links to your website from other websites. Link building is arguably the most difficult aspect of SEO, and it takes time to do it effectively. It isn’t exactly easy to get websites to link to you, however there are a few strategies you can use.

The easiest strategy is by signing up on a website called HARO. HARO stands for Help A Reporter Out, and it allows you to respond to queries from reporters, bloggers, and anyone looking for helpful information. Once you sign up, you’ll receive emails 3 times a day with tons of questions in various categories. You can respond to these questions, and if the reporter (or whoever) likes your answer, they’ll mention you on their website and give you a backlink.

A more difficult strategy is directly reaching out to website owners and asking if they’ll give you a backlink. If you have great content that could fit in with their own content, there’s a chance they’ll mention you and give you a backlink. Again, this is difficult, and you may not always get a response back from the web owners. But if you make a great pitch that speaks directly to them and their needs, you can sometimes be successful.

And finally, there’s the unethical method of building backlinks–buying them. Yes, you can actually purchase backlinks. However, if Google finds out about this, they’ll drop your ranking in their search engine. It’s a risky method, but a lot of people do it. We’d advise you to avoid this method, lest Google find out and drop you on the SERPs.

Use Google Ads

A final method you can use to beef up your SEO is by using Google Ads. The Google Ads platform allows you to place ads in Google’s search engine and rank at the top. You can choose which keywords you’d like to rank for and whether you’d like the ads to pop up locally, nationally, or worldwide.

For example, you target the keyword “Shreveport marketing” and have your ads show up in Shreveport, Shreveport and Bossier, the entire US, or all over the world. Using Google ads is an excellent way to improve your SEO, but it isn’t free.

It’s a Pay Per Click (PPC) platform that charges you every time a web user clicks on your ad. If no one clicks on it, you don’t have to pay. PPC also uses a keyword bidding system, where high competition keywords cost more than low competition keywords. If lots of web owners try to target a specific keyword, the price per each click on an ad will go up.

You can actually get a $100 credit if you sign up for Google My Business, so that’s good news if you’re just looking to try it out. It gives you a chance to experiment and see if the platform will work for you.

Final words

Hopefully now you have a starting point for improving your SEO. These are a few of the most basic methods for increasing the chances your website will be seen in Google. Of course, there are other tactics out there, but we believe these are the most important and more effective. Try them out, and you’ll be well on your way to a better website and web presence.
